1. Horatius - 22.02.2008 04:54 The problem is, the assertion that it is greater to exist than not to exist is an unsupported assertion, and as such, cannot be assumed to be true. In fact, when you consider that every real-world example of a theoretical construct vs. a physical construct, the physical construct is invariable somewhat worse than the theoretical one.
   
   Therefore, the most perfect COD would be the imaginary one.
   
   Now, a perfect cad, on the other hand, well, he might exist :-)

Platowe - 22.02.2008 05:54 Oh hell Horatius--you know as well as I that the issue is whether existence is a property, and that contingent existence cannot be such a property (Russell's analysis of existence statements). But the jury is out whether necessary existence is a property for modal versions of the argument. (My view--existence never is a property, but a context-assigned fact.) :-))))
